I’m an independent editor, writer, and multimedia journalist with over 15 years of experience across a wide range of subjects, from climate change to public health to cultural analysis of books, film, and television. I have worked as editorial director at TIME magazine, health & science editor at Quartz, and senior editor at Newsweek. I’ve contributed to The Atlantic, Al Jazeera America, Vice and the Huffington Post; and have appeared on BBC World News, MSNBC, and NBC, among others. My experience and skillset is diverse: with equal proficiency, I can do statistical regression analysis; tell compelling human narratives; and execute successful investigative reporting projects.

I’ve written a number of impactful stories over the years, but primarily I have been an editor and mentor. Magazine stories and online multimedia projects I’ve edited have been recognized for numerous awards, including the Emmys, the National Association of Science Writers, the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, the Deadline Club, the New York Press Club, and the Columbia University School of Journalism. I’ve also edited books that have garnered accolades and development deals.

Currently, I am available to take on all sorts of projects, including

  • freelance reporting and writing assignments

  • journalism project management

  • developmental, line, copy, and structural book editing

  • writing coaching

  • consulting on climate, energy, public health, and medical science
